The balloting of specifications older than 5 years on whether to retain or Expire them will continue in the next ballot with 2000 specifications. A vote against retention accompanied by a comment will prompt discussion.
QLogic asked for changes to update SFF-8024 SFF Committee Cross Reference to Industry Products.
PCI
Barry Olawsky reported that Rev 0.7 was going to the editor after there had been lengthy reviews of the edited version, which was returned to the editors.

SFF-8300 3.5 inch Form Factor Drives had been prepared to replace the existing
EIA-720 and EIA-740 standards.
An issue was uncovered with respect to later generations of SFF-8482 Serial Attachment 2X Unshielded Connector compatible connectors. Datum A changed on SFF-8639, and there is no correlation to the SFF-8482 Datum A used by the disk form factor specifications.
Connectors
A request to classify SFP specifications in the same manner as QSFP in SFF-8024 SFF Committee Cross Reference to Industry Products was discussed. The change affects titling and re-printing of several specifications, and it was agreed to have the Chairman do so without need of a ballot.
SFF-8417 Axial Constructed Copper Cable Flex Testing passed the ballot for Publication.
SFF-8643 Mini Multilane 12 Gb/s 8/4X Unshielded Connector passed the ballot.
Jay Neer had prepared a new revision of SFF-8644 Mini Multilane 12 Gb/s 8/4X Shielded Cage/Connector for the SSWG to review. Doug Wagner presented a list of questions and criticisms regarding:
- The second blocking key
- Mating force: using 62N vs 61.8 N
- Unmating force: using 30N vs 28.2N
- Latch pullout: 100N min vs 75N min.
- Screw interference
The presentation on the latter noted that M2 screws come in 1mm increments, and the variations in PCB thickness can result in insufficient thread retention or the screw extends so far as to prevent successful mating. Doug asked that the snout be reduced in size.
The SSWG expanded to include more interested parties, and Dan Gorenc will host a series of telecons to resolve the above and any other issues.
Scott Shuey provided a new revision of SFF-8670 Multifunction 10 Gb/s 1X Shielded Connector (HSMIO), and asked that it be balloted.
Your comments and vote on the Specifications are invited.
SFF-8661 QSFP+ 28 Gb/s 4X Pluggable Module passed the ballot for Publication, and drew a comment from Netapp that the new revision does not have a Table 6-1 that changes were made to (Section 6 was re-numbered to become Section 5.3).
SFF-8663 passed the ballot for Publication, and drew a comment from TE Connectivity on editorial issues that needed attention.

====================================================================== September Minutes:
Brad Brubaker asked for a change to dimension G20 in SFF-8644 Mini Multilane 12 Gb/s 8/4X Shielded Cage/Connector because customers had complained about being able to override the key. He could not convince everyone that changing the dimension would achieve the desired result
so his recommended change was sent to the reflector for comments and suggestions.
November Minutes:
Jay Neer was prepared to refute Brad Brubaker's claim in September that the G20 dimension in SFF-8644 Mini Multilane 12 Gb/s 8/4X Shielded
Cage/Connector should be changed. Brad suggested that discussion be deferred until he could bring in samples to illustrate the problem.
