One day in the English class a group of girls began orally hurting me.Our teacher,Mr Stein,a strict one, punished them in front of everyone, and then drove then to the principal’s office, where they were given detention.Later that week, those same girls attacked me near the bus stop, showering my face with tiny stones.I know that Mr Stein thought he was doing the right thing.but he raised their social status, because if you pick on someone and get in trouble for it,it only makes you“cooler”in the eyes of your peers, Not too long after this incident,a couple of other girls named Sharon and A.J.started annoying me again.Rather than removing them from the classroom, our teacher Mrs Swenson removed me from the situation by asking me to help her get something from the computer lab. While we were out in the hall, she took me into her confidence and described how she intended to discipline Sharon and A.J.Then she asked for my ideas.By asking for it,she gave me some of my pride back.
She also taught me a lesson in sympathy, letting me know that she was going to reach out to A.J.and Sharon with kindness and care, and that her objective was to help all of us.
She required that A.J.and Sharon each go out of their way every day for two weeks to do one nice thing for someone else.Every evening, they had to write down one paragraph about what they did.Mrs Swenson taught them the joy of being kind,as opposed to traditional punishment such as detention or suspension, which would have only emphasized the results of being cruel At the conclusion of those two weeks, there was a clear difference in the girls'behavior.AJ.actually apologized to me and several others of her victims. And Sharon, all these years later is a special education teacher, working with the very types of students she used to make fun of and laugh at when we were in school together.

The United Nations says forty million people or so around the world went hungry in 2008,mainly becau
se of higher food prices.Early estimates from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)show that963million people did not get enough to eat.
World food prices have dropped since early2008.Prices of major crops have decreased by more than half from their height earlier last year. But they remain high compared to earlier years.
But FAO official Hafez Ghanem says lower prices have failed to end the food crisis (危机)in many poor counties.“For millions in developing countries,”he says,“getting enough food every day to live an active and healthy life is a distant dream.”
The FAO says food shortage is a threat to people's health.Today,two-thirds of the world's undernourished people live in just a few countries. These are India, the Democratic Republic of Congo,Bangladesh,Indonesia,Pakistan,Ethiopia and so on.
A report on food insecurity warns that the current economic crisis could send even more people into hunger and poverty.
