As soon as I opened it, I was completely drawn into the story. I sat on my little chair by the window. The sunlight gently shone on the pages as I read. I could almost feel like I was right there with Tom, having all those exciting adventures. I'm just an ordinary seventh grader, but I think I have some really cool qualities. Let me tell you a little bit about myself through a story.
One day, I was on my way home from school. It was a really hot day, and I was kind of tired. As I was walking, I saw an old lady in front of me. She was carrying two big bags of groceries. She was walking really slowly and seemed to be struggling. I thought to myself, "Oh, that poor lady. She must be having a hard time." So I quickened my pace and caught up with her. I said, "Hi, ma'am. It looks like those bags are really heavy. Can I help you carry them?" She looked at me with a bit of surprise at first, but then she smiled and said, "Oh, that would be very kind of you, young man."
I took one of the bags from her. It was heavier than I expected, but I didn't want to show it. We started walking together, and she told me that she lived just a few blocks away. As we walked, we talked a little. She told me about how she used to cook for her big family when she was younger. I listened intently, and I could tell she was really proud of those memories.
When we got to her house, she thanked me over and over again. She even offered me a glass of lemonade, but I politely declined because I had to get home. I left her house feeling really good about myself. This little incident made me realize that I'm a helpful person. I like to be there for others when they need it. It doesn't take much effort, but it can make a big difference in someone else's day. And that's a part of who I am.

I sat by the window, listening to the raindrops hitting the glass while I dived into that book. The world in that book was so fascinating.
