文化面面观-美国主要城市地图及简介1 美国的大城市一直是美国文化的精华所在，在城市中了解美国文化，学习英语，我想会收到意想不到的效果。 在以后的几贴里，我会陆续介绍美国的几个主要城市以及这个城市的著名LANDMARK。 开车撞人 Washington D.C 今天我们来参观一下美国首都华盛顿： 大家都知道美国有两个华盛顿，但是首都华盛顿的全称知道的人估计甚少，这里介绍一下："D.C." is an abbreviation for the District of Columbia, the federal district coextensive with the city of Washington. The city is named after George Washington（乔治。华盛顿）, military leader of the American Revolution and the first President of the United States,and Columbus,the first visitor of America continent. 美国国会大厦（US capitol) 国会大厦建在海拔83英尺的高地上，故称之为“capitol hill”国会山. 介绍一下相关词汇： 参议院senate 议长音乐家的作品 speaker 众议院 house of representatives 众议员 representative 林肯纪念堂（Lincoln Memorial ） 林肯的威名自不用说，我们介绍一首著名诗人惠特曼赞颂林肯的诗吧～ O Captain! My Captain! Walt Whitman O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, 十大天坑The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head! It is some dream that on the deck, You’ve fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still; My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will; The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done; From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I, with mournful tread, Walk the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. 啊，船长！我的船长！我们可怕的航程已经终了， 我们的船已安然渡过所有的难关，我们所追求的锦标也已经得到， 港口就在前面，我已听见钟声，听到了人们的欢呼， 千万只眼睛都在望着我们的船安稳前进，它是那样威严和勇敢； 可是，啊，心哟!心哟！心哟! 啊，鲜红的血滴， 就在那甲板上，我的船长躺下了， 他已浑身冰冷，心脏停止了跳动。 啊，船长！我的船长！起来听听这钟声， 起来吧，——梦见很多的蛇旌旗为你招展，——号角为你长鸣， 为你，岸上挤满了人——为你，人们准备了无数的花束和花环， 为你。这雀跃的人在欢呼，他们殷切的脸正对着你看； 这里，船长，亲爱的父亲！ 让你的头枕着我的手臂！ 真像是梦，躺在甲板上， 你已浑身冰冷，心脏停止了跳动。 我的船长没有回答，他的嘴唇惨白，”一动不动， 我的父亲没有感觉到我的手臂，他已经没有脉搏，也没有意志， 我们的船已安全地下锚了，它的航程已经终了， 从可怕的航程归来，这胜利的船，目的已经达到； 啊，海岸欢呼，钟声长鸣！ 可我却以悲痛的步履， 漫步在甲板上，那里躺着我的船长 他已浑身冰冷，心脏停止了跳动。 越战纪念碑(vietnam veterans Memorial )- 为纪念因为越战牺牲的军人而建立的纪念碑，虽说为纪念碑，实际上是一面墙，上面刻着死去者的名字，每天都有死者家属以纸拓印亲人的名字，作为纪念。 杰佛逊纪念堂(The Jefferson Memorial) - 此纪念堂是圆顶罗马式竞技场的建筑，里面有杰佛逊的铜像与其它当时参与美国宪法草案委员的石像，如富兰克林。 记住这位伟人和他的杰作《The Declaration of Independence》独立宣言。 硫黄岛之战纪念碑 (Battle of Iwo Jima) 有机会去看看老牛仔的《硫磺岛家书》，理解会更深刻。 罗斯福（Roosevelt）总统纪念公园里的雕像 美国有两位著名的罗斯福总统 Franklin Delano, 1882-1945, 于1933-1945任美国第32任总统 Theodore, 1858-1919, 于1901-1909任美国第26任总统 20世纪30年代，Theodore Roosevelt实施新政（祭New Deal）有效遏制了当时严重的经济危机（Great Depression）. |
