这是一个困扰大家很久的问题。从小学开始学习英文直到初中毕业，我们掌握了一定量的单词和句型，但是在运用这些单词和句型的时候，我们往往会先在脑海中构造一个中文的句式，然后把它翻译成中文。

他的笑话把我给逗死了。
绝大多数同学都这样写：His joke made me laugh to death.
正如一句从英文翻译过来的中文会显露出它原本的英式结构和用词一样，这样一句汉语转换成的英语也会暴露它深刻的中文血统，甚至因为强求对某个局部进行中文对译而导致最后写成的句子贻笑大方。
所以在动笔练习写作之前，我们首先要明白一点：虽然思维转换成语言是瞬间的事情，但是思维本身不是语言。中国同学的问题在于，我们的思维转变成中文的速度太快了，快到你自己意识不到这种转换完成了，所以脑海中永远都是成型的中文句子，地道的中文句子。于是在写作的时候，同学们总是面对中文句子，从第一个词开始动笔翻译，最后呈现的是一篇生硬的英语译文，

La st year’s Spring Festival is special. My uncle and my aunt came back from Shanghai. My family were very happy to keep the Spring Festival with them. And it was the most exciting festival of all the festivals.
On New Year’s Eve, my father and my uncle t alked about their work together. My mum did some cooking with my aunt Grandparents and I watched the New Year TV programmes. At about six o’clock, we had a special family dinner. We all thought the dumplings were delicious.

I think we should do something to control the population. One answer is known as the one-child policy. It has worked well in controlling China’s population.

中国的万里长城被称为“万里长城”。事实上，它有6000多公里长。它蜿蜒地从西向东，穿过沙漠，越过高山，穿过山谷，直到最后到达大海。它是世界奇观之一。
长城有二十多个世纪的历史。它的第一部分是在春秋时期建造的。战国时期，有更多的城墙被用来保卫不同王国的边界。正是在秦朝，秦国把帝夫的发福部分统一为一个帝国。为了把敌人赶出他的帝国，秦始皇把所有的城墙连在一起。于是，长城诞生了。
长城的宽度足以让五匹马或十个人并排走。沿着墙的是瞭望塔，士兵们常常在那里守望。当敌人到来时，在塔上点燃了火作为警告。
在古代没有任何现代机器的情况下，很难建造这样一堵墙。所有的工作都是手工完成的。成千上万的人死了，被埋在他们建造的城墙下。长城不仅是由石头和泥土建成的，而且是几百万人的血肉所组成的。
今天，长城不仅对中国人，而且对来自世界各地的人都有兴趣。他们中的许多人都知道中国著名的谚语:“没有到达长城的'人不是真正的人。”
