1Introduction
This document describes _äìÉi~Ä» v4.0, the most recent release of BlueLab, CSR's software development kit for producing embedded applications for CSR’s _äìÉ`çêÉ∆ Bluetooth ® wireless technology ICs.
Some additional documentation is included with BlueLab; see the manual available inside xIDE, the integrated development environment for BlueLab and the accompanying PDFs.
1.1BlueLab v4.0
BlueLab v4.0 offers the same Virtual Machine  (VM) architecture that has been successfully implemented in the vast majority of single-chip Bluetooth products, including around 80% of all headset designs. The VM isolates user code in a sandbox where it cannot interfere with the basic Bluetooth operation of the IC. This allows the use of pre-qualified low-level stack firmware, greatly simplifying Bluetooth qualification process and reducing time to market. The user does not need to qualify complex low-level firmware. CSR does this. In addition, BlueLab4 offers the alternative of the native VM, a new implementation of the sandbox which offers significantly improved performance while preserving full source-code compatibility with the interpreted VM.
1.2New Features in BlueLab v4.0 Relative to BlueLab v3.6
In addition to the changes listed in Section B, BlueLab v4.0 introduces the following new features:
■Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR support:
■at the HCI firmware level
■in the L2CAP and RFCOMM layers provided by BlueStack
■in the connection library
■Native execution:
■4-100x performance improvement over the interpreted VM
■application code size limited only by available flash space
整形手术价格■uses approximately 50% more code space than regular VM
■requires at least 8Mbit of flash space
1.3Minimum Requirements
BlueLab v4.0 runs on machines operating on Windows 2000 SP4 or later and Windows XP SP1 or later.
A minimum of 256M
B memory (RAM) is required for satisfactory performance. However, CSR strongly recommend running BlueLab on a machine with 512MB (RAM) or more
The development tools access BlueCore through the Serial Peripheral Interface  (SPI); therefore, a development board supporting this (such as `~ëáê~»
or other CSR development board) is also required._äìÉ`çêÉ∆=_äìÉi~Ä» v4.0  Release Note国家级自然保护区
2Supported BlueCore Devices
Applications produced with this development kit will run on CSR’s BlueCore3, BlueCore4 and BlueCore5 ICs, with
a firmware build supporting VM v7.5.
The Unified 23c firmware release included suitable production firmware for the interpreted VM; production firmware
for the native VM is expected to be part of the Unified 23d firmware release.
Note:
The firmware builds supplied with this release all require minimum 6Mbit devices.
