My Summer Vacation
Last summer, I had the best vacation ever! It was so much fun and I did a lot of cool stuff. I went to visit my grandparents in the countryside. Their house is kind of old but really nice.
When I got there, my grandma gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. She was so happy to see me! Then my grandpa took me out to the barn to see all the farm animals. He let me feed the chickens and the goats. The baby goats were my favorite - they were so cute and tiny! I also got to milk the cow. That was harder than I thought it would be.
Every morning, my grandma made a huge breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and fresh orange juice from the oranges they grow in their garden. It was delicious! After breakfas
t, I would go outside and play in the creek behind their house. I caught tadpoles and little fish. I liked making little dams with rocks and sticks to make pools of water.
In the afternoons, we would go on walks through the woods and fields behind their house. Grandpa showed me all the different plants and trees. We picked blackberries and ate them right off the bush. He also taught me how to whittle little figures out of sticks with his pocketknife. I made a tiny bird!
At night after dinner, we would build a fire in the firepit and roast marshmallows. Grandpa told me scary stories that made me jumpy! Sometimes we would take sparklers out and wave them around, leaving trails of light in the dark. I loved watching the fireflies blink in the fields at night too. Before bed, Grandma would let me pick flowers from her garden to put in a vase by my bed.
One day, we all went fishing down at the lake. Grandpa helped me put a worm on my hook. It felt so gross and slimy! But I didn't mind because I ended up catching three bluegills all by myself! We took them home and had them for dinner. They tasted amazing a
fter grandma battered and fried them.

My Super Summer Vacation
Last summer was the best summer ever! I had so much fun doing all kinds of awesome activities. I went to the beach, had sleepovers with my friends, and even got to go to summer camp. It was an adventure from start to finish!
The summer kicked off with a trip to the beach with my family. We loaded up the car and drove for what felt like forever until we finally arrived. The second I stepped out of the car, I could smell the salty ocean air. I was so excited! We quickly set up our spot on the sand, laying out our beach towels and umbrella. After putting on my swim trunks and sunscreen, I raced towards the water. The waves were huge that day! I spent hours splashing around, riding the waves, and burying my little brother in the sand. By the end of the day, I was com
pletely tuckered out from all the fun in the sun.
A few weeks later, it was time for my first ever sleepover! My best friend Jeremy invited me over for a mega slumber party. His mom made us pizza for dinner and we played video games for hours. Jeremy has the coolest game room with a huge TV and every game system you can imagine. Around midnight, we finally got tired and set up our sleeping bags in the living room to watch movies. We stayed up way too late whispering and telling scary stories. I barely slept a wink because I kept hearing funny noises that made me jump!
The next morning, Jeremy's mom made us pancakes for breakfast. We were still pretty tired from our all-nighter but kept ourselves busy by playing more video games and running around in the backyard. Before I knew it, it was time for my mom to come pick me up. I gave Jeremy a big hug and made him promise we could have another sleepover really soon.
But the best part of my summer was definitely the two weeks I got to spend at Camp Wildwood! I had been counting down the days all year to go to sleepaway camp. My parent
s dropped me off and I gave them a quick hug goodbye before excitedly running off to meet my bunkmates. We played tons of fun games, went on awesome hikes, and did all sorts of cool camp activities like archery, rock climbing, and arts and crafts. During our downtime in the bunk, we told silly jokes and made friends with kids from all over.
One of my favorite memories from camp was during our overnight camping trip in the woods. We set up our tents, cooked tin foil dinners over the campfire, and slept out under the stars. I'll never forget how bright the stars looked without any city lights getting in the way. Our camp counselor Tommy told us crazy stories about bigfoot and other monsters that roam the forest at night. None of us got much sleep that night since we kept hearing spooky noises!
