跆拳道腰带共分10种颜，纯正的颜有六种，分别是白带、黄带、绿带、蓝带、红带和黑带。它们所表示的意义分别如下：
1、白 带：
白带代表空白，练习者没有任何跆拳道知识和基础，一切从零开始。
2、黄 带：
黄带是大地的颜，就象植物在泥土中生根发芽一样，在此阶段要打好基础，并学习大地厚德载物的精神。
3、绿 带：
绿带是植物的颜，代表练习者的跆拳道技术开始枝繁叶茂，跆拳道技术在不断完善。
4、蓝 带：
蓝带是天空的颜，随着不断的训练，练习者的跆拳道技术逐渐成熟，就象大树一样向着天空生长，练习跆拳道已经完全入门。
5、红 带：
红是危险、警戒的颜，练习者已经具备相当的攻击能力，对对手已构成威胁，要注意自我修养和控制。
6、黑 带：
黑带代表练习者经过长期艰苦的磨练，其技术动作与思想修为均已相当成熟。也象征跆拳道黑带不受黑暗与恐惧的影响
这六种颜的腰带之间还有四种过渡，表示练习者的水平正在从一个阶段向另一个阶段过渡。
比如说，我现在就是黄绿带，表示我的练习水平处于黄和绿之间，技术正在不断上升，将从一棵小树苗长成一棵参天大树。
