伴随着经济的飞速发展，科技的日新月异，世界各行各业均取得了新成就，广场舞的应运而生舞活了文化产业。但是任何新兴事物的发展都是不成熟的，都有他所存在的优势和弊端 。
广场舞作为一种新兴的文化产业，有人把它归为民间舞蹈，这种说法其实是不准确的。广场舞蹈应以表演形式划分，而不应从舞蹈种类上划分。广场舞蹈是自娱性与表演性为一体，
以特殊的表演形式、热情欢快的表演内容、以集体舞为主体来表演的舞蹈形式。广场舞源于社会生活，产生于人民众之中，众是广场舞的创作者和表演者。在历史长河中，人民众不仅创造了广场舞蹈，而且发展了广场舞蹈，并使这朵艳丽之花深深扎根于众的社会生活之中。
