A test of spoken English will be included as an optional . Some people contend that it is absolutely necessaryto hold a test of spoken English in China because we have been told many timesthat a Chinese student who has been learning English for years municate with a native English speaker. Sometimes even those top students whoexcel at grammar and writing skills find their English inadequate to expresstheir thoughts freely when speaking. A test of spoken English will bring theimportance of speaking English to the awareness of the college students, andthus help them with their municating skills.
On the other hand, there are also people who maintain that good reading andwriting skills would be enough for the average English learners. Collegestudents are already under considerable pressure from their coursework. Anotherrequired test will only add to their burden. Also, some students may take theshortcut and only practice the questions according to the fixed format of thetest, which will not actually improve their spoken English.
I believe that a test of spoken English will do more good than
harm. SinceChina will continue its policy of opening and reform, the ability to speakfluent English is a must for anyone who wants to surpass others in a petitive society. Whether I take the test or not, I shall make all efforts topractice my spoken English in the rest years in college.

The problem of NEET, once well-known in the UK and Japan, has been brought into public attention now in China. NEET refers to the group of the young who are not currently engaged in education, employment or training. Most of these young people just stay at home or idle about, avoiding employment and relying on their parents.
There are mainly two reasons for this phenomenon. For one thing, with the expansion of university enrollment, an increasing number of college graduates pour into job-hunting market every year. Unfortunately, some of them are not fully prepared and thus e unemployed the time they graduate. For another, some young people are badly spoilt as the only child of their family, so they psychologically and financially depend on their parents even when they are already grown-ups.
To solve this problem, first, colleges should provide pre-job
training courses for the young. Second, parents should cultivate their children the sense of independence. Last but not the least, college students should equip themselves with skills and knowledge so that they will e petitive when seeking jobs.

The past few years have witnessed a mounting number of people undergoing plastic surgery. To this practice, people's attitudes differ considerably. Some applaud it warmly whereas others criticize and even condemn it harshly. Personally, I am opposed to plastic surgery, and I base my position on the following reasons.
In the first place, I deem that physical appearances are always of less great importance than inner beauty and practical ability. In the second place, I am definitely opposed to the concept that there is an established norm of beauty. Instead, I hold that beauty, even in the physical sense, manifests itself in varied ways. Last but not least, as is well known, plastic surgery can be very dangerous, resulting in some irreversible injuries.
